Indianapolis National League Baseball Team letter, 1886.

One letter, December 23, 1886, to National League president Albert G. Spaulding from a group of Indianapolis investors, including John T. Brush, Henry S. New, M.U. Spades, Henry C. Leve, and Charles Mayer & Co. The delegation states that it is interested in obtaining the Kansas City franchise, and inquires about terms and cost of purchase.

A native of Clintonville, New York, Brush was a businessman. He moved to Indianapolis in 1875 and founded the When Clothing Company. In 1885 he became involved in bringing baseball franchises to Indianapolis, and later owned the Cincinnati Red Legs and the New York Giants.
